What We've Learned a Year into Starting a Podcast
Goodness, sometimes it feels unreal!!! The time has come for Kendra and Becky to celebrate the one-year anniversary of this podcast, Market Mamas. To commemorate this time stamp as young entrepreneurs, we reflect on our evolution as day traders and content creators and all the growth we've experienced along the way. The conversation in this episode emphasizes the importance of authenticity, vulnerability, and community support in our endeavors. You’ll want to watch the full episode, as we share insights on the unique niche of day trading, the challenges of entrepreneurship, and the significance of believing in oneself to just start and figure it out as you go.
Did you know that statistically, 18% of small businesses fail within the first year? Honestly, we are not surprised. Creating and sustaining a young business is no small undertaking. And we have learned a massive amount ourselves over this past year that has aided us in staying in the game. Among the biggest influencers in our steady state has been front loading information to a degree, but then just starting!! Nothing will ever blossom if you never plant the seed! As time went, we both just researched, practiced, learned from trial and error, and kept at it through never ending to do lists and very busy schedules. This was not a small undertaking, but when you love something, the sacrifices do not seem as heavy. But rather, we are thankful for this opportunity and see the pressure to continue our growth as a true privilege.
And yes, this is true even when some of our short freeze frame images are unflattering, or we get unkind comments to a video. We have had to callous ourselves and embrace the adage that we won’t be for everyone and that is just fine. In fact, we don’t want everyone. We want the right people to find us. The people that understand our journey to some extent and enjoy learning and growing with us!! A major value add that we prioritize is being authentic and real with our discussions, because the true experiences on the journey of becoming a consistently profitable day trader is the heart of our podcast.
While we are so far from most of our macro goals still, we are no longer at the starting line! In the open conversation of this episode, both mamas appreciate their growth from the early years as traders when there was undeniably many more tears and hard lessons. And as podcasters, we are working through that early period of a survival phase growing into success! And it is all the little victories along the way that sustain us. Especially the comments, emails, and direct words of support and appreciation for what we create. That fills our hearts more than any number or metric for sure!
We all know that the road to success in day trading is a long and arduous one. With podcasting, we are also embracing the long game mentality and each week just doing what we can. Creating the most valuable conversations in each episode for where we are both at in our processes, and letting the outcomes fall where they may. We cannot obsess over subs or views and still have any kind of peace in our lives, so we just don’t. It is far more productive anyways to put our energy into creating quality and allowing the universe to take care of the rest. After all, Karma has got to favor any person who works to pay their blessings forward and lift up others in any pursuit or arena. At least this is the core of our approach.
One side benefit from Market Mamas for Becky & Kendra is that the discussions we have on the show really are valuable for us as well! And our attention and intention of them keeps these important topics in the forefront of our minds. The byproduct then becomes our improved trading and mindsets in our personal journeys. Win, Win!
